 Ludwig will now continue his show career at FCI shows in ‘open’

26/11/2011   Ludwig has his 1st Open Dog class at the German Golden Retriever Club Specialty Championship Show,  Cloppenburg, Germany . Judge - Julie Seamons (Messano) GB   

and wins 1st Excellent with the CAC & VDH awards

The Judge wrote: 

“Top Quality Dog, Lovely from any angle. Looks good on the move too. Super head with dark eye giving a kind expression. Excellent reach of neck, balanced angulation front and rear. Good bone and feet. Lovely topline. Strong quarters.”

This win gave Ludwig enough points to be given the special title of the German GRC  “CLUBSIEGER 2011”  as the joint top winning male over the clubs championship shows held over the year ( with his litter brother ‘Haydn’ coming in as 3rd place in the competition)

22/01/2012 Ludwig makes his debut in the UK at Manchester Championship Show under Gundog Specialist Patsy Hollings (Gunalt) GB and achieves 3rd place in Limit Dog  so gaining his UK Kennel Club Stud Book Number and his LIFETIME qualification for CRUFTS !!!  at his very first UK show  

28/01/2012  1st Excellent in Open Dog with the CAC & VDH awards at the  DRC Championship Show , Herrenberg , Germany , Judge - Vivian Jones (Ninell) GB       who wrote:  “Lovely head and expression, well boned straight forelegs with tight feet. Good forechest. Well angulated upper arm. Correct length of neck, level topline with good tailset. Well ribbed body and strong quarters, moved and showed well.” Ludwig went on to become ‘RESERVE BEST DOG’

09/03/2012  - CRUFTS Championship Dog Show , Birmingham, England

 Ludwig had qualified for entry into the prestigious Crufts Dog Show from his FCI Junior Title wins of Amsterdam Junior Winner 2010 & Bundesjugendsieger 2010  and at only 2 years of age was  shortlisted in Limit Dog under judge - Fiona Thurm (Beldonburn – GB)  

18/03/2012 Ludwig wins 1st LIMIT Dog at the South Western GRC, England ,  Judge- Beryl Stokes (Jobeka) - GB    

24/03/2012  1st Excellent Open Dog with the CAC & VDH awards at the  GRC Championship Show, Cloppenburg, Germany , Judge Lynn Hennessy ( Ritzilyn) – GB     Her critique of him  said : “  Beautiful head and expression on this beautiful male. Good neck and shoulders. Good topline and tailset. Good height to length ratio. Super legs and feet. Expertly handled and presented and shown in good coat and condition. Super mover , one of the few today with perfect tail carriage.”    Ludwig went on to become BEST DOG

22/04/2012  1st Excellent Open Dog  at Goes Championship Show, The Netherlands judge - Sue Ross (Sokenlea) – GB the judge wrote: “ 2 years old,  stunning dog from all angles. Fantastic head. Excellent pigmentation. Well ribbed body. Superb angulation. Eye catching outline. Good bone and feet. Moved with style and showmanship. “ 

29/04/2012   1st Excellent Open Dog   with the VDH  award at Lingen Championship Show, Germany , Judge - Dagmar Winter ( Fourwind Cottage) - Germany 

Ludwig went on to win  BEST DOG with the CAC & CACIB !!! and his grandmother Ch Ramchaine Green Glitter was BEST BITCH !!!

The required wait of one calendar year  between the first and last  CAC / VDH & CACIBs  needed to become a CHAMPION under FCI rules  is over …. and at just over 2 years of age ~

05/05/2012 1st Excellent Open Dog with the CAC at the German GRC Specialty Championship Show , Bad Arolsen , Germany , Judge – Liam Moran ( Woodmoore) Ireland his critique said : “ Very happy dog with great ring presence. Very nice head. Very good pigment. Nice dark eyes. Good length of neck, nice deep chest, nice front. Very well boned. Nice back end and good muscles. In very good coat. He is very balanced on the move and moves with drive. Very nicely presented.”  Ludwig is  ‘RESERVE BEST DOG ’


11/05/2012 .  Dortmund National Championship Dog Show, Germany,  held the first  ‘German & British Dog Festival Celebrating Britsh Breeds’, where not only the VDH & CAC awards were given but a special “UK Challenge” held and UK KC Challenge Certificates on offer too! The chosen judge for this special unique event was Mrs Paula Edwards (Lovehayne) GB  Ludwig wins 1st Excellent in Open Dog and becomes the FCI Best Dog with the CAC & VDH awards in the UK Challenge he wins his 2nd       *** UK Reserve Challenge Certificate ***

( …..but in Germany !!!)

The judge wrote in her FCI & UK reports : Quality with excellent balance of head & kind expression, good reach of neck, into well laid shoulders, excellent level topline & tailset, 

good bone, neat feet, immaculately in well prepared coat,   moved soundly from strong hindquarters and short neat hocks, well presented and shown”. “ I was delighted with my main winners who would be capable of holding their own in stronger competition were sound and of good type.”  

13/05/2012  Ludwid is 2nd in Open Dog with the RCAC & RVDH awards at the EUROPASIEGAR All Breed International Championship Dog Show,  Dortmund, Germany, Judge – Aiden McKiernan  (Bushbane) Ireland

17/05/2012  The Golden Retriever Club of the Netherlands Championship Dog Show , 

Judge – Margaret Woods (Amirene) GB  Ludwig is  1st Excellent in the huge Open Dog class -  the judge wrote: “ lovely balanced dog, excellent head, good pigment, excellent neck, good shoulders, level topline, mature body with good spring of rib, excellent hind quarters, moved very well.”

26/05/2012  Bath Championship Dog Show, England, Judge Carol Benson (Goldenquest) GB  Though still only 2.5 years old Ludwig now with his 3 x Champion titles  has to be in Open in the UK and compete against the ‘big boys’ , where he was 3rd in a class of 5 x UK Champions.

03/06/2012  1st Excellent Open Dog at the ‘Jachthondenshow’, Bennekom, The Netherlands, judge – Alaistair Scott(Largymore) GB . who wrote “ Pale dog in full coat. Super head with dark eye and good pigmentation.Good length of shoulder & upperarm. Good depth of chest. Level topline. Correct set tail. Lovely rear quarters which are well muscled and so added his drive around the ring.”  

In the dog challenge Ludwig won the Reserve CAC & Reserve Best Dog  behind his mother’s litter brother  “Porthos of the Hellacious Acres”!!! 

10/06/2012   –  Tilburg International Championship Show, The Netherlands  Ludwig has his first champion class at an FCI show and wins 1st Excellent under judge -  Dhr. De Cuyper (Belgium)  he then goes on to win BEST DOG with the CACIB & CAC awards    … this is his necessary 4th Dutch CAC won  after turning 27 months of age which makes now officially his Dutch Champion title.  

*** Our young star at only  2.5 years of age   INTERNATIONAL / GERMAN & VDH CHAMPION  Beethoven of the Hellacious Acres  wins his  DUTCH CHAMPION TITLE too !!! ***

Our International Sh Ch /Dutch CH/German & VDH CH Beethoven of the Hellacious Acres was in the super  quality  large Open Dog class with lots of champions from many different countries.

‘Ludwig’ was shortlisted to the last 8 under judge Heather Morss (Xanthos)

9th May 2013 – The Golden Retriever Club of the Netherlands Championship Show, Hoenderloo, The Netherlands

Ludwig wins 2nd Excellent ( behind the eventual BIS winner!!) in the huge and strong Champion class under judge Hans van den Berg,

 The judge wrote: “Beautiful dog. Good in bone and substance. Very lovely head. Good ear set. Dark eye and soft expression. Well filled up muzzle. Excellent angulation front and behind. Good depth of breast. Good croup. Lovely coat. Beautiful straight topline. Excellent movement.”

 25th May – the Danish Retriever Club Specialty Championship Show, Naestved, Denmark. Judge : Sjoerd Jobsen (Caemgen- NL)

*** Ludwig becomes a  ***  DANISH CHAMPION ***

Our International Show Champion / Dutch Ch / German Ch & VDH Ch  Beethoven of the Hellacious Acres achieves his Danish title too !! The judge wrote ; “3 years old. Very mature male. Lovely masculine head with kind expression. Excellent neck and topline. Very well angulated front and back.  Excellent bone and feet. Good spring of rib and good depth of chest. Moves freely around the ring with a good stride.  Excellent coat and condition.” 

Saturday 13th July 2013 – The Golden Retriever Club CENTENARY – 1913-2013- Celebrations : Parade of Champions at The Bathurst Estate, Cirencester, England.


Ludwig takes part in the magnificent Champions Parade with 97 other Champions from many different countries participating. An amazing sight to witness soo many quality Goldens all together.
